Privacy First: Balance Sheet AI is built with a Zero-Database architecture. Your financial data is stored locally in your browser and is never uploaded to or stored on our servers. We cannot access, view, sell, or share your financial information because we simply don't have it.

1Introduction

Balance Sheet AI (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our Service at balancesheetai.com (the “Service”).

By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2Our Zero-Database Architecture

Unlike traditional SaaS applications, Balance Sheet AI operates on a Zero-Database architecture. This means:

  • No server-side storage: We do not maintain any database containing your financial data
  • Local storage only: All your financial information is stored in your browser's localStorage
  • No user accounts: We do not require registration, and we do not store usernames, passwords, or profiles
  • Stateless processing: When you generate a document, your data is processed momentarily and immediately discarded

3Information We DO NOT Collect

We want to be crystal clear about what we don't do:

We DO NOT collect:

  • Your asset values or financial figures
  • Bank account information
  • Investment portfolio details
  • Business revenue or expenses
  • Social Security numbers
  • Tax identification numbers
  • Home addresses
  • Phone numbers

We DO NOT:

  • Store your financial data on our servers
  • Create user profiles or accounts
  • Track your financial history
  • Sell or share your data with third parties
  • Use your data for advertising purposes
  • Retain any data after your session

4Information We DO Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to operate the Service:

4.1 Payment Information

When you make a purchase, payment processing is handled entirely by our third-party payment processor (Creem). We receive only:

  • Confirmation that a payment was successful or failed
  • The email address you provided to the payment processor (for transaction records only)
  • Transaction ID for support purposes

We never see or store your credit card numbers, bank account details, or billing address.

4.2 Analytics Data

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use our Service. This includes:

  • Page views and navigation paths
  • Browser type and device category
  • Country-level geographic data
  • Referral sources

This data is aggregated and anonymized. We cannot identify individual users from this information.

4.3 Technical Logs

Our hosting provider (Vercel) automatically collects standard server logs including IP addresses, request timestamps, and error information. These logs are used solely for security monitoring and debugging purposes and are automatically deleted after 30 days.

5How Your Data is Stored Locally

Your financial data is stored in your browser's localStorage under the following keys:

// Data stored in YOUR browser only:

localStorage.balance_sheet_draft → Your form data

localStorage.is_pro_user → Payment status flag

localStorage.bsai-company-name → Company name cache

Your Control: You can delete this data at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage or using your browser's “Clear browsing data” feature. Once deleted, this data cannot be recovered because we do not have any copy of it.

6Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Creem (Payment Processing)

Handles all payment transactions. Subject to Creem's Privacy Policy.

Vercel (Hosting & Analytics)

Provides hosting infrastructure and anonymous analytics. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.

OpenAI (AI Processing)

Powers our document generation. Data sent for processing is not retained by OpenAI for training purposes per our API agreement. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

7Cookies

Balance Sheet AI uses minimal cookies. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. The only cookies used are:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the website to function properly
  • Analytics cookies: Anonymous, aggregated usage statistics via Vercel Analytics

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect the functionality of the Service.

8Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect the limited information we do process:

  • All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
  • Payment webhook signatures are cryptographically verified
  • We do not store sensitive financial data on our servers
  • Regular security audits of our infrastructure

However, since your financial data is stored locally in your browser, you are responsible for securing your own device and browser.

9Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to Access: You can access your locally stored data through your browser's developer tools
  • Right to Deletion: Clear your browser's localStorage to delete all locally stored data
  • Right to Data Portability: Your data is already in your control in your browser

Since we do not maintain a database of user information, there is no server-side data for us to provide, modify, or delete on your behalf.

10Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used our Service, please contact us.

11International Users

The Service is hosted in the United States. If you are accessing the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws: our Zero-Database architecture means we process minimal personal data. The legal basis for processing is your consent and our legitimate interest in providing the Service.

12Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
